Development Milestones

The following information provides a quick glance of the timeline of the inception of the various investments under the FALIM umbrella and some of the development milestones they have achieved.

1996
1996 September: Insight Consultancy Services (ICS) Maldives was incorporated as a liability limited company in the Maldives. This is the first beginning of FALIM Group’s business. The IT and Training Departments of ICS later became the ICON Investments Private Limited and MAPS Maldives Private Limited respectively.

1998
1998 CBC Game Station opened, which was the first Game Station and Internet Café operated by a private party other than DHIRAAGU at that time.

1999
1999 July: Modern Academy for Professional Studies (MAPS) was established to offer professional education in the Maldives.

2000
2000 January: Modern Academy for Professional Studies (MAPS) becomes affiliated with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), UK to offer their courses in the Maldives.
January: MAPS introduces the ACCA’s Certified Accounting Technician (CAT) course for the first time in the Maldives. With this humble beginning MAPS was able to make

2001
2001 January: Modern Academy for Professional Studies (MAPS) opened its first Campus at H. Hiyaleege.
July: ICON Investments Private Limited (ICON) was incorporated as a liability limited company and ICON Computers established.

2002
2002 ICON Game Station was opened, which was the largest Cyber Café and Gaming Arena in the Maldives at the time of its opening.
August: ICS (Lanka) Private Limited was incorporated in Sri Lanka.
September: ICON Computers (Showroom) was inaugurated in Male’, the capital of Maldives.

2003
2003 ICON Computers Showroom opened on Sosun Magu and ICON Game Station expanded into two floors.

2004
2004 ICON Computers was awarded the contract to supply, install and configure LAN, PABX and PA System at Gan International Airport.
October: ICON Computers became an Authorized Dealer of IBM and began selling IBM products in Maldives.
December: ICON Computers began selling HP brand of products as a dealer of HP.
ICON Computers Showroom was relocated to bigger and better premises.

2005
2005 January: Modern Academy for Professional Studies (MAPS) opened its second campus at H. Fulidhoooge.
April: Moodhu Holidays Private Limited was incorporated as a liability limited company in the Maldives.
May: ICON Computers was awarded the HP Business Partnership for all HP product ranges.
ICON Computers hosted the ICON IT Fair 2005. The 1st and the biggest fair of its kind in the Maldives.
July: Workflow Technologies International Private Limited (WTI) was incorporated as liability limited company in the Maldives with the objective to develop software systems.

2006
2006 April: Modern Academy for Professional Studies (MAPS) began offering the ACCA’s Skills Level in the Maldives.
May: ICON Investment Private Limited partners with VA Private Limtied.
June: ICON won the prestigious “Best Emerging Partner of the Year 2005” award from HP for the first time in the history of any HP Business Partner in the Maldives.
July: ICON hosted ICON IT Fair 2006 with an attempt to break the world record for the “Most participants in a ribbon cutting ceremony”.
November: ICON Computers Lanka (Private) Limited was incorporated in Sri Lanka.
December: Modern Academy for Professional Studies (MAPS) was awarded the President’s National Award for Outstanding Contribution to Public Service in the Field of Education by His Excellency President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom.
Modern Academy for Professional Studies (MAPS) became MAPS Institute.

2007
2007 ICON Computers won the HP’s “Special Growth Award of the Year 2006” for HP Personal Systems Group.
ICON Computers won the INGRAM Micro award for the “Best Performing Partner for HP Business (Maldives) for 2006” and the “Pinnacle Award in Recognition for Outstanding Contribution 2006”.
ICON Computers receives the Guinness World Record Certificate for “Most participants in a ribbon cutting ceremony” at the inauguration of the ICON IT Fair 2006.
ICON Computers Showroom and ICON Head Office was relocated to bigger and better premises.
May: Body Style – a fitness centre was opened as an establishment of FALIM Group Private Limited.

2008
2008 ICON Computers supplied and installed the entire IT infrastructure at Herethera Island Resort.
ICON Computers supplied and installed the entire IT infrastructure at Shangri-La Villingili Resort and Spa.
ICON Computers in partnership with Atos Origin (Singapore) Pvt Ltd supplied and installed the HP hardware platform for the Maldives Public Accounting System at Ministry of Finance and Treasury.
ICON Support Center was certified as a CompTIA A+ Authoirzed Service Center.
November: AMINA Marine, a Gulf Craft Touring 30 launch was procured and brought into service.

2009
2009 May: HAZA Construction Private Limited was incorporated as a liability limited company.
September: AMINA Residency was completed and opened. AMINA Residency is the first real-estate project fully funded by FALIM Group in which a 11 storey building of approximately 1400 square feet was constructed and leased out as residential apartments and office space.

2011
2011 January: Modern Academy for Professional Studies (MAPS) was awarded college status and became the MAPS College.
MAPS College opened its new state of the art modern campus at H. Vaifilaa-aage.
MAPS College launched its fully interactive website after it becoming a fully fledged college.
MAPS College introduced its Online Application System and became the first College in Maldives to offer this service.
Ten by Ten Pharmacy was opened. Followed by two more outlets.
May: MAPS College became affiliated with the Edexcel, UK and began offering their courses in the Maldives.
August: Toys World, the first ever toys store in the Maldives, was opened by FALIM Group in Majeedhee Magu Henveiru. Soon afterwards a second outlet was opened in Majeedhee Magu Maafanu.

2012
2012 March: MAPS College became affiliated with the Confederation of Tourism and Hospitality (CTH) of UK and began offering their courses in the Maldives.
April: The third outlet of Toys World, know as the Toys World Mini was opened.
September: MAPS College began offering Oxford Brooke’s University BSc (Hons) in Applied Accounting program.
October: MAPS College held its first graduation ceremony after becoming a College in 2011.

2013
2013 February: MAPS College became affiliated with the Binary University of Malaysia and began offering their courses in Maldives.
March: MAPS College held the “Ingredients for a Successful Business: an International Seminar Delivered by Top US Scholars”.
June: MAPS College began offering the MAPS BSc in Information Technology degree programme.
June: MAPS College began offering the MAPS Foundation Studies programme.
June: MAPS College began offering the MAPS Associate’s Degree programme.

2014
2014 February: MAPS College became affiliated with the Australian Institute of Business (AIB) and began offering their BBA and MBA courses in Maldives.
February: ICS Maldives acquired and implemented an online market research system/facility.
March: HAZA Construction expanded its workforce in order to be able to cast four concrete slabs in a month.

2015
2015 January: FALIM Group launched FALIM Sales Race (FSR) among all subsidiaries of the group, as a incentive scheme to recognize and encourage sales growth.
January: FALIM Group organised “Kudakudhinge Haveeru”, a fund raising activity for Kudakudhinge Hiya.
January : MAPS College became a member of SANIM (South Asia Network for Impact Masters).
February: FALIM Group held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) of 2013 and 2014 at STELCO Auditorium.
February: HAZA Construction casted its first foundation of a 7 story building constructed from foundation onward at G. Shuroo.
February: HAZA Construction completed interior and exterior works of FALIM Group’s new head office at H. Nereen, 2nd Floor.
March: MAPS International High launched “Ready for Work” Internship Programme.
April: MAPS International High became the Runners up of Inter School Net Ball Tournament (Under 19 Age Group).
April: ICS Maldives attended the Retail Pro Conference in Manila, Philippines.
April: Moodhu Holidays participated at the Chain Outbound Travel and Tourism Market (COTTM) fair.
May: Haza Construction began casting more than one concrete slabs simultaneously. A slab at M. Deep Light and G. Shuroo were the first two slabs casted in this manner.
May: Moodhu Holidays participated in the INDABA,one of the largest tourism marketing events on the African calendar.
June: FALIM Group began implementation group wide HR Software for smooth and effective operation HR Department and all related activities.
June: HAZA Construction began construction of a four story building for its staff accommodation at H. Alhuraa.
June: Moodhu Holidays started selling resort packages to local and expats market in the Maldives.
June: ICS Maldives announced version 3 of the QBDocs, cheque printing software designed and developed by ICS Maldives.
July: ICS Maldives implemented Retail Pro at the duty free outlets run by Maldives Airports Company Pvt Ltd at the Ibrahim Nasir International Airport.
August 2015. MAPS College introduced card payment system at the College Campus.
November: Moodhu Holidays participated in the World Travel Market London, which is one of the most popular tourism fairs.
December 2015: MAPS College was awarded Gold Approved Learning Partner status by the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA).

2016
2016 March: Moodhu Holidays participated in the ITB, Berlin, which is the worlds largest travel fair.
March: HAZA Construction began using Ready Mix Concrete for its construction work.
April: Moodhu Holidays attended the Arabian Travel Market (ATM), Dubai.
April: MAPS College held its Graduation 2015 at the Rannabadeyri Maalam of Dharubaaruge. Students who graduated from the Australian Institute of Business (AIB) attend this ceremony.
May: HAZA Construction implemented a setup for cement block manufacturing for in-house use.
May: FALIM Group hosted its Annual General Meeting for 2015 at the STELCO Auditorium.
